Members of the public who tuned in to the Champaign Government Television livestream today were greeted with this screen

The Champaign, Illinois Human Relations Commission (HRC) cancelled their monthly meeting for the six time today.  Assuming they actually convene in May, they’ll have gone seven months between meetings.

The November and December meetings were cancelled when too few members showed up (the Open Meetings Act requires a quorum to be present to take any action).

The reasons for cancelling the January, February, and March meetings are unknown, but they may also have been cancelled due to a lack of attendance.

Today’s meeting was also cancelled due to a lack of attendance.

The HRC is currently chaired by Vice Chair Demario Turner, who also sits on the Citizen Review Subcommittee for review of police complaints.  The HRC members failed in October to properly appoint a new Chair for the Commission.

Willie G. Comer Jr., Taylor Dent, Joseph Gamez, Lisa Liggins-Chambers, and Montez Dubose are also on the HRC, and three seats are currently vacant.  Last month, only two seats were vacant, but member Prince F Robertson has since resigned.
