The last time the Champaign, Illinois Human Relations Commission had enough members in attendance was October 2021

The Champaign, Illinois Human Relations Commission (HRC) cancelled their monthly meeting for the fifth time this past Monday.  Assuming they actually convene in April, they’ll have gone six months between meetings.

The November and December meetings were cancelled when too few members showed up (the Open Meetings Act requires a quorum to be present to take any action).

The reasons for cancelling the January, February, and March meetings are unknown, but they may also have been cancelled due to a likely lack of attendance.

The HRC is currently chaired by Vice Chair Demario Turner, who also sits on the Citizen Review Subcommittee for review of police complaints.  The HRC members failed in October to properly appoint a new Chair for the Commission.

Willie G. Comer Jr., Taylor Dent, Joseph Gamez, Lisa Liggins-Chambers, Prince F Robertson, and Montez Dubose are also on the HRC, and two seats are currently vacant.
