Urbana City Council member Bill Brown released a statement on September 12th indicating that he will not seek a third term on the Council.  Mr. Brown did not respond when asked why he decided not to pursue another term.

Brown’s statement:

“I’ve told a few people already that I won’t be running for election to a 3rd term on the City Council, so I just wanted to make it public. I’ve truly appreciated the chance to represent you for the past 8 years and hope that I did so in a way that was fair and respectful of all viewpoints and interests.

If you are interested in running, here’s a packet with information and necessary forms:

Signatures can be collected now through mid November to get on the ballot for the February municipal primary.

Ward 4 is generally between Florida and Washington, from Orchard to the old railroad tracks past Philo Rd. Plus it includes Orchard Downs, FAR, the UI president’s house, a block south of Florida on Sunnycrest Dr and a few blocks between Oregon and Washington (300 and 400). There is a ward map on the City website.

Let me know if I can answer any questions about running or serving on the Council.

Thanks,

Bill Brown”
